Full professor of Town Planning at the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies. Chair of the PhD programme in Urban Planning, Design and Policy. Editor of the online journal (ibidem). My research focuses on the material and symbolic production of space via planning practice and social interaction. Land use regulation and zoning are the main areas of concern, particularly under the assumption that setting boundaries is a crucial aspect of spatial and social organisation. Real estate market and development is a related area of concern as it provides clues to understand space as the result of a dynamic adaptation between land and society within a planning policy framework. My teaching at bachelor and doctoral levels aims to enable students to tackle spatial issues from this perspective.

Some of my recent publications are: La democrazia dei confini. Divisioni di suolo e sovranità in Occidente (Carocci, 2011); Governo del territorio e pianificazione spaziale (CittàStudi, 2013, with L. Mazza and U. Janin Rivolin); La civiltà dei confini. Pratiche quotidiane e forme di cittadinanza (Carocci, 2018).
